GDIT Secures $1.5 Billion Contract to Modernize IT Infrastructure for U.S. Strategic Command
General Dynamics Information Technology (GDIT) has been awarded a $1.5 billion contract to modernize enterprise IT systems supporting U.S. Strategic Command (USSTRATCOM). The multi-year agreement underscores the Department of Defense’s commitment to enhancing operational readiness through secure, scalable digital infrastructure.
Focus on Mission-Critical IT Modernization
Under the contract, GDIT will deliver a comprehensive suite of services including cloud migration, cybersecurity, network engineering, and service desk support. The modernization effort is designed to improve system resilience, enable faster decision-making, and support the command’s global mission across nuclear deterrence, space operations, and joint force coordination.
“This award reflects our deep understanding of USSTRATCOM’s mission and our ability to deliver secure, agile IT solutions at scale,” said Brian Sheridan, GDIT’s Senior Vice President for Defense. “We are proud to support the command’s evolving needs in an increasingly complex threat environment.”
Strategic Relevance to Aerospace and Defense Stakeholders
USSTRATCOM plays a central role in national defense strategy, integrating capabilities across air, space, cyber, and nuclear domains. The IT modernization initiative will support both classified and unclassified environments, ensuring continuity of operations and enhanced interoperability across defense networks.
For aerospace and defense contractors, the contract signals continued investment in digital transformation across mission-critical systems. As platforms become more data-driven and interconnected, robust IT infrastructure is essential to sustaining readiness and enabling joint operations.
GDIT’s Role in Defense Digital Transformation
GDIT has a long-standing presence in defense IT, supporting agencies across the Department of Defense with enterprise services, cloud architecture, and cyber operations. The company’s work on this contract will be performed at Offutt Air Force Base in Nebraska and other strategic locations.
The award reinforces GDIT’s position as a key partner in defense modernization, with capabilities that span infrastructure, analytics, and mission support.
