BETA Technologies Selected for FAA’s eVTOL Integration Pilot Program
BETA Technologies has been chosen by the U.S. Department of Transportation and the Federal Aviation Administration as a launch participant in the first eVTOL Integration Pilot Program, a national initiative aimed at accelerating the safe introduction of electric and vertical flight operations. BETA was selected for seven of the program’s eight launch efforts, the widest participation of any electric aircraft developer, positioning the company to play a central role in shaping early operational use cases for electric aviation across the country.
The selected programs span at least 10 states and are expected to influence activity in as many as 26, reflecting a broad geographic footprint and a diverse set of mission profiles. BETA will deploy both its ALIA CTOL and ALIA VTOL aircraft, along with its charging and ground support systems, following a phased approach that aligns with its entry‑into‑service strategy.
Multi‑State Operations Focused on Cargo, Medical and Community Access
Under the eIPP, BETA will begin real‑world operations with partners across the United States. Missions include cargo logistics, medical transport, organ delivery, disaster response support and rural connectivity. Participating states and mission partners include:
- New York: Cargo and medical logistics with Metro Aviation and the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey
- Texas: Medical supply distribution and cargo operations with Metro Aviation, Bristow Group and Future Flight Global
- Utah: Cargo and medical logistics to rural communities with UPS, Alpine Air Express and Bristow Group
- Maryland and Virginia: Organ delivery missions with United Therapeutics
- Louisiana: Onshore logistics for offshore energy operations and rural medical access with Bristow Group and Metro Aviation
- Florida: Cargo and medical logistics with Republic Airways and Metro Aviation
- North Carolina: Healthcare access and disaster response missions with UPS and Metro Aviation
These operations are designed to demonstrate the reliability, safety and economic viability of electric aircraft across a range of practical, high‑value applications.
Advancing U.S. Leadership in Electric Aviation
BETA leadership described the selection as a significant endorsement of the company’s operational maturity and readiness to scale. With its production facility online and its aircraft already flying extensive real‑world missions, BETA is positioned to begin delivering aircraft and supporting infrastructure under the program.
The company has accumulated more than 125,000 nautical miles of flight experience with its ALIA aircraft, including cross‑country operations in the United States and international flights in Europe, Norway and New Zealand. BETA is also building a network of interoperable charging sites, with more than 50 locations active across the United States and Canada.
