GDIT Secures $1.25 Billion Task Order to Advance U.S. Army Europe and Africa IT Infrastructure

General Dynamics Information Technology (GDIT), a business unit of General Dynamics, has been awarded a $1.25 billion task order under the Enterprise Mission Information Technology Services 2 (EMITS 2) contract. The award supports the U.S. Army Europe and Africa’s evolving digital infrastructure and operational readiness across a geographically dispersed theater.

Strategic IT Modernization with Aerospace-Relevant Technologies

The EMITS 2 task order includes a five-month transition period followed by seven option years. GDIT will provide enterprise IT, communications, and mission command support to Army headquarters, subordinate units, NATO allies, and other mission partners. The scope of work includes modernization of network infrastructure, enhancement of mission partner networks, and deployment of cybersecurity solutions to protect critical systems.

U.S. Army Europe and Africa is a vital service component command that provides ready, combat-credible land forces to deter, and, if needed, defeat aggression from any adversary in Europe and Africa.

Of particular relevance to aerospace and defense stakeholders is GDIT’s integration of advanced technologies such as artificial intelligence, machine learning, cloud computing, and data analytics. These capabilities are increasingly central to aerospace operations, enabling secure interoperability and rapid decision-making across joint and coalition environments.

Enhancing Command Connectivity and Operational Resilience

Brian Sheridan, GDIT’s senior vice president for Defense, emphasized the strategic importance of resilient IT networks in supporting deterrence and readiness. “We look forward to continuing to deliver a modern digital backbone that will enable our soldiers and commanders to stay connected, coordinate seamlessly with mission partners, and act decisively on the battlefield,” Sheridan stated.

Continued Investment in Defense Infrastructure and Training

This task order builds on GDIT’s longstanding support of Army operations. Earlier in 2025, the company received an Integrated Base Defense Sustainment Support task order aimed at strengthening base security and readiness. GDIT also provides advanced training support services to hundreds of thousands of soldiers, reinforcing its role in shaping digitally enabled defense environments.

General Dynamics’ Broader Aerospace and Defense Portfolio

GDIT operates within General Dynamics, a global aerospace and defense firm with offerings spanning business aviation, shipbuilding, land combat systems, munitions, and technology services. The company employs over 110,000 personnel worldwide and reported $47.7 billion in revenue for 2024.

For aerospace professionals tracking defense IT modernization, this award signals continued investment in scalable, secure, and mission-critical infrastructure aligned with joint force requirements and coalition interoperability.
