Magnolia Advanced Materials Expands Scientific Team to Support Advanced Aerospace Epoxy Development

Magnolia Advanced Materials has added new Ph.D. level chemists to its organization, strengthening the company’s technical depth as demand grows for high performance epoxy systems used across commercial and defense aerospace programs. The expansion reflects Magnolia’s continued investment in scientific capability as it enters 2026.

Building Technical Capacity for Next Generation Aerospace Materials

President and CEO Wayne Tanner noted that the company is scaling its talent base to meet increasing aerospace requirements and to advance its position in high performance epoxy formulation. Magnolia’s Atlanta operation has become one of the industry’s most active hubs for advanced materials recruitment, drawing chemists from leading research universities including Georgia Institute of Technology, Carnegie Mellon University, Emory University, Michigan State University, the University of California Berkeley, and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

The company’s epoxy systems are used by major commercial aircraft manufacturers and across United States military platforms, including high performance aircraft and ordnance. Magnolia materials are also supporting deep space applications, with its epoxy currently deployed on hardware bound for Mars.

New Additions Strengthen an Experienced Aerospace Materials Team

The newest hires include Emily Ryan, Ph.D., from Georgia Tech, and Michael Bautista, Ph.D., from Carnegie Mellon University. They join an established group of epoxy chemists that includes Anthony Chirillo and John Chiao, Ph.D., under the leadership of Technical Director Greg Bunn, a 40 year aerospace industry veteran. The team is recognized for its customer focused approach and deep product knowledge across mission critical applications.

Tanner emphasized that expanding the company’s Ph.D. level expertise reinforces Magnolia’s commitment to scientific rigor and positions the organization to support customers at the forefront of advanced materials innovation through 2026 and beyond.
