Northrim Horizon Acquires ACG Systems to Expand Wireless Integration Capabilities

Northrim Horizon, a permanent capital investment firm based in Arizona, has acquired ACG Systems, a Maryland-based integrator of mission-critical wireless communication systems. The acquisition marks Northrim’s third platform investment under Fund III and positions ACG as a cornerstone for future growth in wireless services across defense, federal, and commercial sectors.

ACG Systems has built a reputation over three decades for delivering technical integration and field support across analog, digital, and IP-based communication platforms. Its customer base spans aerospace, defense, healthcare, and infrastructure, making it a strategic fit for Northrim’s long-term investment model.

Leadership Transition and Strategic Growth Plans

To lead the next phase of expansion, Northrim has appointed Thomas Montalbano as Chief Executive Officer. Montalbano brings a background in strategic consulting from McKinsey & Company and operational leadership from his tenure as a U.S. Marine infantry officer. He holds an MBA from Harvard Business School.

ACG’s co-leaders Bob Dick and Tim Carney will remain in their current roles, supported by a multidisciplinary team across engineering, project management, and field services. The company is actively pursuing new partnerships and technology acquisitions to become a leading provider of integrated communication system services.

Relevance to Aerospace and Defense Communications

ACG’s expertise in wireless integration is increasingly relevant to aerospace stakeholders seeking robust, scalable communication infrastructure. As public and private sectors invest in modernizing domestic wireless systems, ACG is well-positioned to support upgrades, replacements, and maintenance across OEM platforms.

The acquisition aligns with broader industry trends toward resilient, interoperable communication networks that support both ground and airborne operations. Northrim Horizon’s commitment to reinvesting in people, processes, and technology suggests a long-term strategy that could benefit aerospace clients seeking continuity and innovation in mission-critical systems.
