Sidus Space Completes Design for FeatherEdge 248Vi
Sidus Space has completed the design phase of its FeatherEdge 248Vi edge computing module. The system is part of the company’s Orlaith AI Ecosystem and is intended for deployment in spaceborne, airborne, and autonomous defence applications.
Product Capabilities and Aerospace Relevance
The FeatherEdge 248Vi is designed to deliver approximately 248 tera-operations per second of AI processing, supporting advanced sensor fusion, situational awareness, and near real-time decision-making in constrained environments. It features 64 GB of LPDDR5 ECC memory, a 680 GB pSLC NVMe SSD, and a 3U VPX form factor aligned with current aerospace architecture standards. The module is ruggedized for extreme temperatures ranging from –40 °C to +85 °C and radiation exposure up to 100 krad TID, making it suitable for low-Earth orbit, geosynchronous orbit, or high-altitude and airborne platforms.
Implications for Aerospace and Defence Systems
For aerospace and defence programs, the FeatherEdge 248Vi enables high-performance AI/ML workloads to run on-board rather than relying solely on ground-based processing. This reduces latency, minimizes data downlink requirements, and enhances system responsiveness for satellites, unmanned aerial vehicles, and other mission-critical platforms. The module provides prime contractors and subsystem integrators with a scalable, modular solution for advanced autonomous and edge-compute architectures.
Market and Strategic Outlook
With design completion achieved, Sidus Space plans to move into manufacturing and qualification with deliveries expected in early 2026. The module’s adherence to VPX and modular open systems architecture standards ensures compatibility with modern aerospace and defence systems, providing flexibility for integration into a wide range of mission architectures.
Sidus Space is a vertically integrated space and defence technology provider, offering satellite design, hardware manufacturing, and AI-enabled mission solutions. The FeatherEdge 248Vi strengthens the company’s portfolio in high-performance edge computing for aerospace and defence applications, supporting rapid innovation and adaptable mission solutions.
