X-Bow and AEON Forge Tactical Missile Partnership to Advance SRM Innovation

X-Bow Systems Inc., a rising force in advanced solid rocket motor (SRM) manufacturing, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with AEON Industrial Inc., a defense technology firm based in Austin, Texas. The agreement, formalized during the Fed Supernova event at Capital Factory, sets the stage for joint development of tactical missile systems, beginning with the SRM portion of AEON’s Zeus platform.

The agreement was officially signed by Aeon Founder & Chief Executive Officer Naweed Tahmas and X-Bow Chief Revenue Officer Maureen Gannon at the Capital Factory in Austin during the Fed Supernova event August 20, 2025.

This partnership reflects a growing trend in the defense sector: pairing agile, non-traditional manufacturers with vertically integrated weapons developers to accelerate innovation and field readiness.

Zeus Missile System: A Modular Leap in Tactical Capability

AEON’s flagship Zeus system is a lightweight, software-enabled, payload-modular weapon designed for deployment across shoulder, aerial, and vehicle platforms. Its architecture promises rapid reconfiguration and in-theater production, features that align with modern battlefield demands for magazine depth and operational flexibility.

By integrating X-Bow’s advanced manufactured SRMs, the Zeus platform gains propulsion capabilities tailored for affordability, scalability, and precision. The collaboration aims to deliver systems that offer decisive overmatch while remaining cost-effective and rapidly deployable.

Strategic Synergy: Innovation Meets Execution

Maureen Gannon, X-Bow’s Co-Founder and Chief Revenue Officer, emphasized the shared commitment to enhancing national defense capabilities. AEON CEO Naweed Tahmas echoed the sentiment, describing Zeus as “the first major advance in tactical weapon systems in decades” and highlighting the partnership’s potential to deliver “true magazine depth where the mission needs it”.

This synergy between propulsion and payload design could reshape how tactical systems are developed, tested, and fielded, especially in contested environments where speed and adaptability are paramount.

X-Bow’s Expanding Role in Aerospace and Defense

Headquartered in Albuquerque, New Mexico, X-Bow has rapidly expanded its footprint across California, Alabama, Colorado, Texas, Utah, Maryland, and Washington, DC. The company is known for its modular SRM designs and small launch vehicles for both orbital and suborbital missions, positioning it as a dual-use technology provider with applications in both aerospace and defense.

Backed by a robust investor network, including Boeing, Lockheed Martin Ventures, and Razor’s Edge Ventures, X-Bow is part of a new generation of firms blending spaceflight innovation with tactical relevance.

Implications for Regional Aerospace Ecosystems

This partnership offers a blueprint for cross-sector collaboration. As defense primes seek nimble partners to meet evolving mission profiles, companies like X-Bow and AEON demonstrate how regional innovation can scale into national impact.

Their joint effort may also open doors for local suppliers, test facilities, and workforce development programs focused on next-gen propulsion and modular weapons systems.
