X-Bow Systems Expands Solid Rocket Motor Capacity With Acquisition of Evolution Space

X-Bow Systems has announced an agreement to bring Evolution Space into the company, a step that will substantially increase its solid rocket motor production capacity and bolster its role in addressing critical U.S. munitions shortages. The transaction is expected to close in March or April and reflects growing demand across national security and aerospace programs for rapid scale, advanced energetics, and hypersonic propulsion capabilities.

The acquisition includes Evolution Space’s hypersonic technologies and its solid rocket motor manufacturing facility at Stennis Space Center in Mississippi. This addition will expand X-Bow’s energetics footprint and support broader efforts to rebuild domestic production capacity for propulsion systems essential to both defense and space missions.

Leadership Emphasizes Urgency and Industrial Base Impact

Mark Kaufman, Chief Strategy Officer at X-Bow, noted that integrating Evolution Space’s proven hypersonic and spaceflight capabilities will enable the company to respond more effectively to urgent Department of War requirements. He highlighted the importance of scaling production with speed and reliability as the United States works to strengthen its defense industrial base.

Evolution Space founder Steve Heller, who will serve as Chief Engineer at X-Bow, underscored the alignment between the two companies. He pointed to the opportunity to accelerate innovation and deliver high performance propulsion systems at a pace that meets national security needs.

Expanded Capabilities for Aerospace and Defense Programs

The acquisition brings several key advantages to X-Bow’s portfolio, including:

  • Increased production capacity through the Stennis Space Center facility in Mississippi
  • Enhanced energetic capabilities such as high burn rate solid rocket motor technology and advanced hypersonic propulsion
  • Proprietary propellant formulations and critical subcomponent technologies
  • A culture of rapid prototyping supported by extensive test experience

These capabilities position X-Bow to support a wider range of aerospace and defense applications, from hypersonic research to next generation missile systems.

Reinforcing Domestic Production for Critical Propulsion Systems

X-Bow has emerged as a non traditional producer of advanced solid rocket motors, combining proprietary energetics, vertically integrated manufacturing, and sub orbital launch capabilities. The company reports up to three million pounds of annual energetics production capacity at scale, along with composite case manufacturing, multi cartridge SRM designs, and AI enabled design analytics.

With multiple national security launches completed and participation in more than a dozen active SRM programs, X-Bow continues to expand its role in modernizing U.S. energetics infrastructure and supporting the reindustrialization of the defense sector.
