Phantom Space Expands Thermal Engineering Capabilities With Acquisition of Thermal Management Technologies
Phantom Space Corporation has acquired Thermal Management Technologies, a long established provider of satellite thermal systems, in a move that strengthens the company’s vertically integrated approach to spacecraft and launch vehicle development. The acquisition supports the rapid build out of Phantom Cloud, the company’s planned orbital data center constellation.
Strengthening Thermal Expertise for Next Generation Spacecraft
Thermal Management Technologies brings decades of experience designing and producing advanced thermal components for aerospace and defense missions. Integrating these capabilities directly into Phantom Space is expected to streamline development of the Block I Phantom Cloud satellites, which will require precise thermal control to support high performance data processing in orbit.
Phantom Space leadership noted that the addition of TMT’s engineering team will help accelerate the company’s roadmap for responsive space infrastructure. The company views thermal management as a critical enabler for spacecraft operating in high duty cycle data environments.
Advancing the Phantom Cloud Orbital Data Center Vision
Phantom Cloud is part of Phantom Space’s broader effort to create an open space ecosystem that supports real time data collection, processing, and distribution. The company is developing an integrated architecture that includes launch vehicles, satellites, and an in orbit data platform designed to serve commercial, government, and scientific users.
With TMT’s technology now in house, Phantom Space expects to enhance the performance and reliability of its orbital data center hardware. The acquisition also positions the company to support a wider range of customers seeking to commercialize space based data services.
Leadership Continuity and Integration Plans
Under the terms of the agreement, Thermal Management Technologies will continue operating as a subsidiary of Phantom Space. The company will maintain its existing customer commitments while contributing directly to Phantom Space’s spacecraft development programs.
TMT founder Scott Schick will remain with the organization as General Manager. His team will work closely with Phantom Space engineers on thermal solutions for the Block I Phantom Cloud satellites and future spacecraft platforms.
Supporting the Domestic Space Industrial Base
The acquisition follows Phantom Space’s recent expansion of its launch vehicle and satellite manufacturing capabilities. By bringing additional thermal engineering capacity under its umbrella, the company reinforces its commitment to maintaining critical space technologies within the United States industrial base.
Phantom Space continues to develop the Daytona family of launch vehicles and its orbital infrastructure portfolio, aiming to provide scalable access to orbit for a growing range of commercial and government customers.
