Honeywell Deepens Smart Grid Capabilities with SparkMeter Acquisition

Honeywell has announced the acquisition of three software platforms from SparkMeter, a move that strengthens its Smart Energy portfolio and expands the capabilities of Honeywell Forge Performance Plus for Utilities. While the deal centers on utility infrastructure, the implications for aerospace and defense sectors, particularly in energy management, intelligent systems, and operational analytics, are worth noting.

The acquired platforms include Praxis, GridScan, and GridFin, each designed to address different facets of utility performance:

  • GridFin focuses on financial optimization, analyzing energy supply costs and customer rate structures.

These tools will be integrated into Honeywell Forge, the company’s industrial IoT platform, which already supports aerospace applications in predictive maintenance, asset tracking, and operational efficiency. The crossover potential is clear: aerospace operators managing distributed systems, whether across fleets, facilities, or ground support, can benefit from the same kind of data-driven insights now being scaled for utilities.
