AstroNova Appoints Jorik Ittmann as CEO, Signaling Strategic Focus on Specialized Printing Systems

AstroNova, a provider of data visualization and airborne printing technologies, has named Jorik E. Ittmann as its new President and Chief Executive Officer, effective August 15. The appointment follows a period of leadership transition and signals a renewed focus on growth, innovation, and organizational stability.

Ittmann joined AstroNova in 2024 and quickly advanced through leadership roles in the Product Identification segment. His background includes scaling revenue at Zebra Technologies and leading commercial operations at Health Link Solutions, where he helped launch patient identification systems and pressure-sensitive labeling solutions. His experience in regulated industries and high-performance printing systems positions him well to guide AstroNova’s next chapter.

Strengthening Leadership Across Segments

Alongside Ittmann’s promotion, AstroNova announced several key leadership updates. Darius Nevin will transition to Executive Chairman, while Padraig Finn becomes Senior Vice President of Product Identification. Finn brings deep expertise in international sales and printing technologies, with prior roles at Linx Printing Technologies and AutoCoding Systems.

The existing executive team, including Tom Carll (SVP, Aerospace), Thomas DeByle (CFO), and Michael Natalizia (CTO), remains in place. This continuity is expected to support AstroNova’s strategic goals, particularly in diversifying revenue and expanding its installed base across both aerospace and commercial markets.

Aerospace Division: A Quiet Powerhouse

While much of the recent focus has been on the Product Identification segment, AstroNova’s Aerospace division continues to play a critical role in the company’s portfolio. The division specializes in airborne printing solutions, avionics-grade networking hardware, and flight deck data acquisition systems. As aircraft systems become more digitized and data-driven, demand for reliable, mission-critical printing and visualization tools is expected to grow.

AstroNova’s ability to serve both OEMs and aftermarket customers in aerospace positions it as a niche leader in a segment where precision and reliability are paramount. The leadership changes may also accelerate innovation in this area, especially as the company explores new machine offerings and print engine technologies.

Navigating Change with Strategic Clarity

AstroNova’s leadership transition comes at a time when specialized printing systems are gaining traction across industries. For aerospace stakeholders, the company’s dual focus on airborne systems and industrial-grade printing offers a unique value proposition. Ittmann’s appointment suggests a commitment to operational discipline and market responsiveness, qualities that are increasingly vital in aerospace supply chains.

The company’s emphasis on reorganizing its sales strategy and enhancing productivity could have ripple effects in how aerospace-grade printing solutions are developed, marketed, and deployed. As AstroNova seeks to unlock organic growth and improve profitability, its ability to balance innovation with execution will be closely watched.
