PsiQuantum Appoints Victor Peng as Interim CEO as Company Enters Next Phase of Scale and Execution

PsiQuantum has named veteran computing executive Victor Peng as Interim Chief Executive Officer, marking a significant leadership transition as the company moves from foundational technology development toward large‑scale deployment of its photonic quantum computing systems. Co‑Founder Jeremy O’Brien will shift into the role of Executive Chairman, where he will guide board activities, strategic direction, and key partnerships while continuing to work closely with the leadership team.

Leadership Realignment to Support Deployment of Utility‑Scale Quantum Systems

The appointment brings decades of experience in advanced computing architectures to PsiQuantum at a time when the company is preparing to operationalize its first utility‑scale quantum computing sites in Brisbane and Chicago. Peng previously served as President at AMD and as CEO of Xilinx, where he led major transitions in adaptive computing and system‑level architectures. His background spans CPUs, GPUs, FPGAs, and integrated hardware‑software platforms, experience that aligns with PsiQuantum’s shift toward large‑scale execution.

O’Brien, who co‑founded the company in 2016, will continue shaping long‑term strategy and external partnerships while supporting the transition to a permanent CEO.

Building on a Decade of Photonic Quantum Development

Over the past ten years, PsiQuantum has developed the core technologies required for fault‑tolerant quantum computing, including its mass‑manufacturable silicon photonic chipset, Omega. The company has also advanced cryogenic system designs, intermediate‑scale testbeds, and platforms for fault‑tolerant algorithm development. These efforts have positioned PsiQuantum to begin deploying quantum systems capable of addressing high‑value commercial and government applications.

Peng’s role will focus on day‑to‑day operations, business growth, and the continued advancement of PsiQuantum’s photonic architecture. This includes oversight of technical development across silicon photonics, system integration, and the company’s global deployment roadmap.

Momentum Following a Pivotal Year

Peng joins PsiQuantum following a year of significant milestones. In 2025, the company advanced to the final stage of DARPA’s Quantum Benchmarking Initiative, raised more than one billion dollars in a Series E round, and broke ground on what is expected to become the largest quantum computing site in the United States. PsiQuantum also expanded partnerships with major aerospace and technology organizations, including Airbus and Lockheed Martin, and launched Construct, a software platform dedicated to fault‑tolerant algorithm development.

The company also announced a broad collaboration with NVIDIA focused on quantum computing and next‑generation silicon photonics for AI supercomputing, further integrating its technology into the broader high‑performance computing ecosystem.

About PsiQuantum
