Nathan Diller Joins Mach Industries as President and Chief Strategy Officer

Mach Industries has appointed Nathan Diller as President and Chief Strategy Officer, adding a seasoned national security and advanced technology leader as the company accelerates the scale up of its manufacturing operations. Diller will oversee strategy, growth initiatives, and external engagement as Mach expands production of its unmanned systems portfolio and deepens partnerships across the defense industrial base.

Executive Brings Extensive Experience in Defense Innovation and Advanced Manufacturing

Diller joins Mach following the company’s recent Series B financing and ongoing expansion of its 110,000 square foot production facility. The company has secured a production contract, continues to advance multiple research and development programs, and is conducting flight tests across five product lines.

Mach founder and CEO Ethan Thornton highlighted Diller’s experience leading organizations that transition advanced defense technologies from concept to production. His background spans flight operations, engineering, requirements development, budgeting, and acquisition, all of which align with Mach’s focus on delivering systems with speed and disciplined execution.

Background Includes Senior Roles in Government, Industry, and Flight Test

Prior to joining Mach, Diller served as Chief Strategy Officer and later CEO of the aerospace and defense subsidiary at Divergent, an advanced manufacturing company specializing in digital design, additive manufacturing, and automated assembly for air, land, sea, and space systems.

Earlier in his career, Diller served on the staff of the U.S. House Appropriations Subcommittee on Defense, overseeing a significant research, development, and procurement portfolio and shaping policy to accelerate defense innovation and commercial technology adoption.

A retired United States Air Force Colonel, Diller spent more than two decades in uniform. His assignments included Director of AFWERX, Director of Aeronautics in the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy, and leadership roles within DARPA, the Joint Staff, the Air Force Rapid Capabilities Office, the Strategic Capabilities Office, and multiple fighter and flight test squadrons. He is a test pilot and fighter pilot with more than 2,900 flight hours in over 60 aircraft.

Appointment Supports Mach’s Focus on Scaling Production for Defense Needs

Diller noted that Mach has built a team that blends commercial engineering talent with national security expertise and emphasized the importance of flexible, high throughput manufacturing to meet emerging defense requirements. His appointment reflects Mach’s continued investment in leadership and strategic planning as the company positions itself to support U.S. and allied defense priorities.
